Accreditation distinguishes our practice from many other dental facilities by acknowledging we are providing the highest quality of care to our patients as determined by an independent, external, evaluation.
Status as an accredited organization means The Dental Specialists has met nationally recognized standards for quality health care set by AAAHC. More than 6,000 health care organizations across the United States are accredited by AAAHC. Not all health care organizations seek accreditation; not all that undergo the rigorous on-site survey process are granted accreditation.
The Dental Specialists has always believed our patients deserve the very best care. When you see our certificate of accreditation in our practices you will know that AAAHC, an independent, not-for-profit organization, has closely examined our facility and procedures. It means we, as an organization, care enough about our patients to strive for the highest level of care possible.
The AAAHC conducted its audit of The Dental Specialists in January 2018. The audit consisted of an ongoing series of records reviews and practice visits, as well as in-person interviews with doctors and team members. We learned the outcome of the audit about a month later.
Health care organizations seeking accreditation by AAAHC undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors – physicians, dentists and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. The survey is consultative and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
What is the AAAHC?
AAAHC, or the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc., is a private, non-profit organization formed in 1979 to assist health care organizations in improving the quality of care provided to patients. This is done by establishing, reviewing, and revising standards, measuring performance, and providing consultation and education.
What is AAAHC accreditation?
Accreditation is an external, independent review of a health care delivery organization against nationally-accepted standards and its own policies, procedures, processes and outcomes. In other words: Is the organization delivering safe, high-quality patient care in the way that it says it will?
AAAHC accreditation means that the organization participates in on-going self evaluation, peer review and education to continuously improve its care and services. The organization also commits to a thorough, on-site survey by AAAHC surveyors, who are themselves health care professionals, at least every three years.
