What made you choose dentistry?
My grandfather was a dentist in Vietnam, but when he came to the U.S. as a refugee, he gave up his practice and became a translator to support our family. Though he never practiced here, his passion for dentistry planted the idea in my mind early on. However, I didn’t officially choose dentistry until college when I shadowed my own family dentist. I fell in love with the hands-on work, the artistry, and the social aspects of the profession. What made you choose your specialty?
I’ve always been energized by working with children—their positivity truly brightens my day! What do you love most about your specialty or what do you find the most rewarding?
The most rewarding part of my specialty is when a child tells me they love going to the dentist. What’s your care/treatment philosophy?
I truly believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treating children. One of the most fulfilling aspects of this specialty is figuring out how to best care for each child based on their social history, dental history, and unique personality. When did you start or how many years have you been with The Dental Specialists?
I started in August 2023, so I have been here for 1.5 years. What is one thing you love most about The Dental Specialists?
I love the mentorship I’ve received from my colleagues. Even though we practice at different locations, it truly feels like we’re part of a team. What do you enjoy most about being part of a group practice?
I love the interdisciplinary collaboration we achieve at TDS. But I also have to admit—I really enjoy the social events! It’s always fun to see everyone outside the office (and humble them on the pickleball court). And now for a little fun let's get to know Dr. Mester on a more personal level! What was your very first job?
My first job was as a math tutor in high school! As a freshman, I put an ad on Craigslist and had my mom drive me to my clients. When I turned 16, she made it clear I had to pass my driver’s test on the first try. NO exceptions! What do you like to do on your days off?
On my days off, you can find me playing pickleball, lifting weights, walking my dogs, or playing a new video game with my husband. What’s your favorite food or drink?
I live to eat, so it’s impossible to pick just one favorite. But I’ll never go to a restaurant without ordering sushi or a ribeye steak. Also, I’m guilty of eating an entire quart of blueberries in one sitting at the office! What is an interesting fact that people may not know about you?
I earned my second degree blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do in 9th grade. What’s your favorite genre of music to listen to?
Does Taylor Swift count as a genre? I’m a superfan! I even met her in 2013 during the Red Tour when her mom picked up my sisters and me to meet her after the concert! We hoped you enjoyed learning more about Dr. Mester. To request an appointment, click here.
